I send my thanks too. As a once lonely VHS exerciser I am so grateful to have found VF an exercise community from my side of the world decades ago.
After recent reading, I appreciate the enormity of what this Forum has been, is and whatever will be. Wendy it is your truly amazing story! Thank you so very much and all the best. |

Well said, Karla!
I’d like to add that whether Wendy realizes it or not, she has made a HUGE, positive impact on so many people. It’s a rarity when it occurs and I only hope I can continue the legacy in some way, helping others through fitness. If everyone on this planet strived to make this kind of impact, we would truly live in a blessed world.

Agreed! Wendy, in creating this forum in the first place, created something WONDERFUL for SO many people!! It's certainly been a part of my life for almost 20 years, for which I'm VERY grateful. THANK YOU to Wendy!
BUT... Trying to enlist someone with specialist skills to project-manage a move to upgraded software is an unnecessary step (and a time-burden on someone) when we already have TWO alternatives up and running already - even with a photo avatar on both, for free. The forums on both are continuing to grow & life on them will flourish if more make the leap to participate on them. OTOH.... If ALL the reviews are saved (are they stored on the vBulletin server? Does Wendy have them?) then that's a different story entirely!! The reviews are what brought me to this site, and I'm sure many others as well. I can imagine reviews about YouTube instructors in general, rather than specific workouts, of instructors that THIS group are more interested in. Places like Team ForNever Lean do reviews of YouTubers (Sydney, Natacha, Caroline, Heather...) but I've never seen him do Jessica, Leslie, Rick, Adriene (no yoga at ALL that I found) - he's more into weights. BUUUUT...... Newer reviews just haven't been happening, for a long time - are those from before the 'great slow-down' relevant any more (?) when we can just ASK within the forum from people who have done/loved/hated them for anyone seeking to acquire an old workout? Sorry for the explosive brain-fart.... but my mind is (obviously) racing. ETA and speaking of avatars, where has mine gone now?? Subscription isn't up, I didn't think. |

This is a very valid point and something that will need to be evaluated by anyone who volunteers to help, i.e. is it actually worth the time, effort and cost to upgrade this forum, or does it make more sense for the community to continue building a new home elsewhere. I don’t know the specifics yet about where and how the reviews are stored. I believe it would be possible to maintain that portion of VF by just ensuring that the domain gets renewed each year. I’ll find that out the next time I connect with Wendy (or it could be in the notes I already have from her - I’ll check). The forum portion of the site is definitely the most complicated piece of the puzzle. |
