Thumbs down Better Homes and Garden

I recently renewed for myself and a gift for a relative
the specialty magazine Heart Healthy magazine (from the
publisher of Better Homes and gardens).

I have had a subscription for myself and gift subscription for years.

A few weeks later I received a letter stating they were not publishing
the magazine and that my subscription had been converted to
Ladies Home Journal for 2 years.

My attempts to ask for a refund went ignored both by letter.

As they produce many health related specialty magazines
and cooking magazines just a note for you as the buyer to be
aware.

I do not respect companies that give you no choice by ignoring you.

As my subscription was renewed just prior to the change, returning
my money would have been the right thing to do....

Thanks for letting me vent!

That stinks!

Did you pay by credit card? I wonder if you contacted your credit card company and explained the situation if they could help you since you never received the product you ordered...

I hate it when companies do that. They send you a renewal notice, then tell you the mag is discontinued. To me that is fraud. They should have known the mag was going to be discontinued and should not have sent out renewal notices. This has happened to me and I couldn't get anyone to return my calls. I no longer subscribe to anything.

Thanks for the reply and the support. I have always paid by check
and never had a problem. The magazine was quarterly and quite
good. It was helpful to my relative who has had heart surgery.

Deedee,

I am phasing out subscriptions, between the some of the companies
and their practices and the mail delivery it appears to be a hassle
lately for me.

Thanks for the reply!

Grr - how frustrating! I'll keep my fingers crossed that you'll still be able to get things resolved (even though it's sounding doubtful).

This is so wrong...I used to order subscriptions through a school fund-raising deal for one of my nephews and always, at least one magazine was substituted with some other magazine I had no interest in I'm not sorry he's moved on (to college for one thing)
Somehow I got a lot of offers of great prices due to my job for magazine subscriptions, but I didn't read them like I had thought I would and now I'm just letting them all "die".
