What is the best flooring for a home gym?

Hi Ladies,

I'm building a new house and of course it will have a home gym.

I'm looking at this flooring which is very low-priced but looks good.

http://www.amazon.com/We-Sell-Mats-A.../dp/B001EJI6CK

I'm going to order a square of it to get an idea.

Do you have any flooring recs?

TIA,

I've been looking at these mats also but haven't made a decision. If you go directly to the WeSell Mats website, you will see a much wider selection of mats. You can order free samples to compare the various mat types. Also the pricing between buying through Amazon and buying through their website is not all that different.

Thanks for the tip. The amazon choice is 3/8 inch thick but the web site has 1/2 inch for just a bit more. I would like to go with the 1/2 inch. The prices are very good -

I ordered the 1/2 thick was 7 dollars more then the 3/8. Doing TAPOUTXT on carpet is hard on elbows, mostly rug burns, and my yoga mat floats around. My neighbor bought some as well for his gym and loves them.

I ended up getting commercialized rubber flooring from a different company. It's harder and more durable. The flooring I was considering was too soft for equipment.

I got flooring from: RubberFlooringInc.com.

The product was called: 3/8" Heavy Duty Rubber Rolls

This is much more solid than the puzzle mats. Exercise equipment does not make marks in this stuff where it will permanently compress puzzle mats.

It's a lot more expensive though.

Chris, I would love to see pictures of your workout room or just hear what you have planned. Please! We're finishing a small room right now so I'd love more ideas. I've been trying to find pictures online, too, so if you've found any inspirational pictures, I'd love to see them.

I'm ordering my flooring tomorrow and I'm also ordering from www.rubberflooringinc.com. I think I'm getting the 1/2" plyorobic rolls. The sales person I talked to last week said my couple pieces of equipment wouldn't damage it and I like that it's more shock absorbent.

This is a very different suggestion, but I have to say that I'm really happy with my Dollamur flexi-roll mat. I initially purchased it to practice brazilian jiu-jitsu at home, but after an injury ended my bjj practice, I left it rolled up gathering dust for years. However, I just unrolled it and started using it for my Deltafit workouts, and it is terrific! When I finish Deltafit I'm moving to Rushfit, and I'm sure it will be awesome for those workouts also.

I would not recommend a flexi-roll mat for large, super-heavy equipment, but if you are doing circuits with kettlebells or dumbbells or other resistance, a flexi-roll mat might be perfect for you. It is firm, but also absorbs enough shock to make shoes unnecessary. Also, as indicated in the name, it rolls up easily when you don't want it on your floor.

I just had a Flexiroll mat delivered last week & I absolutely LOVE it!!! I do a lot of Zuzana and HiiT type workouts & it is perfect! This is one of the best pieces I have bought for my Gym!
I also do Kettlebells...but do them in front of the mat & then use the mat for all other things!
