Thanks, dfit! I had asked my library to order the upcoming Susan Wittig Albert release. I used to buy them, but hardcovers are so expensive now. I love her books, but I don't read mysteries more than once. I am glad she is keeping up the series. There is an author named Ellen Hart who has a series with around 28 books, and she and Susan used to release their new books around the same time each year or so. I wrote to Ellen to ask, and she said the "Jane Lawless" series is done. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I can understand it ending after nearly thirty books.

Good morning! I haven't check in a while, having not read anything much to brag about.

My April book club read was interesting, though. Small Mercies by Dennis Lehane. It's a fiction looking back at Boston in the 1970s, segregation and the strife concerning the implementation of bussing. It's partly a crime mystery and partly a hard look at poverty, racism and organized crime. In spite of raising these disturbing issues it's a fast paced, tightly written story that I couldn't put down.

Happy reading everyone!

His Mystic River was certainly captivating (the movie was good too, but the book was more nuanced).

Making my way through Cork O'Connor Series

Although I do have a Krstin Hannah book I'm going to read for a change of pace inbetween the remaining last 4 Cork O"connor series. for now, all of these are by William Kent Krueger:

#12: Tricksters Point
#13: Tamarack County
#14: Windigo Island
#15: Manitou Canyon

As with the others, I've enjoyed these. They are quick. I've come to know the characters. Now I realize it's much like writing a tv series, but he doesn't have a team of writers. (My brain is always wondering how he comes up with new and different ideas for his book. The things my mind ponders.) I will be sad when they come to an end. But I'm glad I was way late to the party and could read one after the other and not have to wait years for the next one to come out!!!

I have many on my "Want to Read" List. in part due to this forum and in part due to recommendations that I get via facebook ads and Good reads! I am so happy to be able to finally have time to read. I forgot how much I enjoy it.
