I’ve finally started Witness for the Dead, Katherine Addison’s follow up to The Goblin Emperor. I bought it last summer (!) and never could get a start on it. (Goblin Emperor took me several false starts, too, but I ended up loving it.)
So far, it’s going okay. I’ve gotten to the point where I’m interested and understanding the story and able to wade through the verbiage (so much unnecessary world- and word-building in these books!) |

I wonder what the percentage is of readers who have actually finished the book versus those who never have.
Honestly, I just kept plodding along hoping it would get better, especially since there were so many positive reviews on Amazon. Not saying it was a 'bad' book, just not what I expected. |

Working my way through Diana Gabaldon's A Breath of Snow and Ashes in preparation for the new Outlander season that aired Sunday, March 6th. It's a bit of a slog to get through some of her books when they are such tomes.

Pam, I think that was my last Outlander book. If you go further, interested to hear what you think!
I finished The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue last night. It picked up a bit at the end, although the ending was somewhat disappointing/unsatisfying.

I finished The Matrix by Lauren Groff yesterday. It's beautifully written and an interesting meditation on how women may have leveraged what little power and agency they had in medieval Europe.

I finished Setting Free the Kites by Alex George. It was a really absorbing story about two families in Maine in the late 1970s.

I've been listening to JK Rowling's The Ikabog on cd at night, and it's way more violent and dark than I was expecting. Fairy tale stuff, but with murder, political corruption, suffering children, etc. Stephen Fry narrates it very well indeed.

I tend to read a whole lot, then shift over to binge-watching a tv series, then back to reading.
I just finished the latest season of Cobra Kai, lol, so now I’m reading M.M.Kaye’s Shadow of the Moon. Maybe next I’ll tackle The Far Pavilions… |
