Yes, they deserve it! Though the exercise-for-weight-loss concept certainly predated TBL, they certainly brought the concept to the masses.

It had started some time in the 1980s alongside the rise of Nautilus machines; and all the possible mutations and permutations of The Rotation Diet and the F-Plan Diet... concurrent with the quest for more and better fiber (in supplement form); both leading to the overselling of low calorie balanced dieting and worsening with the grain lobby's promotion in the 1990s of the resulting synthesis: the low-fat/high fiber/high carb diet; when in fact many people with such genes might do better to turn all those plans upside the head.

I think it was even before the '80s. I saw something about it in a documentary. I'll have to look it up.

Yeah I more or less stopped reading after I read that part. I wouldn't expect the majority of women 30 and older to be able to change their physique much simply by exercise alone. It just...doesn't work like that.

Ahhh the Susan Powter era. Although perhaps that was more the 90s. I just remember chowing down on entire boxes of Snackwell cookies and crackers in college and thinking I'd NEVER gain the Freshman 15 as long as I ate fat-free. Ummm... guess again!
