I added a "faq" tag so it can be moved to Workout/Fitness FAQs, which has lots of useful info.
Thanks for starting this, Renda! ETA: here's another thread from last year with more sites: http://forum.videofitness.com/showthread.php?t=145451

I don't think this one has been mentioned yet:
ExRx (Exercise Prescription): http://www.exrx.net/index.html It's not flashy, and has no cute blog or women's mag style writing. It's definitely not a site I go to for entertainment. I go there when I want information: A complete database of information and instructions for exercises (weights, kettlebells and body weight, plus rehab/prehab stuff), with video demonstrations. A full array of fitness calculators, logs and worksheets, lots of info on anatomy, physiology and kinesiology, sample programs for weight training, cardio training, fat loss, etc, plus the information you need to create your own programs and rotations: periodization, rep ranges, conditioning parameters. Also lots on nutrition. And stretching. And tons more. Explore the menus, it's amazing what they've amassed. Lots of references and links. Best of all, it is not trying to sell you anything. Well, it does have a book/video store section, but that sells textbook-type things, not mass-market "magic method" stuff from celebrity trainers and internet gurus. |
