Wow, I don’t know. I never have that experience with yoga, even back when I used to do only yoga pretty intensively.
Anything done in a stretched, eccentric position has the potential to result in more muscle soreness, so maybe it was just the area getting stretched in a new way while holding positions isometrically. Leah Sarago’s workouts used a more extended, kind of extreme lunge position sometimes, holding it for a long time, and I would have soreness sometimes doing those. Of course not being sore doesn’t mean things aren’t getting worked, either. |

Bridge pose really targets the glutes, and alternating leg lifts while in the pose, too! Also, chair pose.
