Jeremiah Green, drummer for the alternative rock band Modest Mouse, has died at age 45. He was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, but they only just announced it not long ago and now he has already passed away. He leaves behind a wife and child.

Modest Mouse is a little bit obscure, but their early albums are full of challenging, heartfelt, and deeply lyrical songs. Their more recent work is more upbeat, and their song "The Sun Hasn't Left" was very meaningful for me during the worst of COVID, when it felt like the world was irrevocably changed. The basic message of that song is that fundamentally, the world still exists, and I found that very hopeful. RIP.

I meant to post this yesterday. My son is a fan of theirs. It is so sad he is gone so young.

Our friend Jeff Rusnak who passed in 2016 did the photos for one or two of their album covers. He was an "unofficial" photographer for the band..I have to ask my son if he knows which album covers.

My son and our friend Ben said no on the album cover but he did some published concert photos for them. Ben is friends with the guy who produced an early album of theirs in Hopewell, Nj.

This surprised me as I had just read the announcement that he had cancer. I love love love the album The Moon and Antarctica. So sad to hear of his passing.

Alas, it's time to start a new RIP thread for 2023.
