Now I can tag threads!

Hello,
I became a VF supporter today and I am happy to be a volunteer who tags threads. It satisfies my Type A nature, so it's a win-win situation.

I just wanted to ask if there were some rules of thumb about tagging that I should adhere to/be aware of before I take on this task.
Thank you.

I don't know, but I sure appreciate threads that are tagged! It makes finding something oh so much easier. Thanks!

But you didn't tag this one, LOL--I did!

I don't think there are any "rules," but since I am one of those "stealth taggers" on VF, I can offer a few hints:
  1. ANYONE can tag a thread that they have started, so please try to do so when you start a new topic!
  2. You may notice that when you go to type in a tag, if you only type in a few letters, a drop-down list of EXISTING tags will appear. Whenever possible, choose from the existing tags first--that means that your thread will be connected to like threads already in existence.
  3. Double check your spelling, especially with instructor names! Some tags are rendered virtually useless due to misspellings.

There are a couple of "official" rules that will come up if you try to break them--I think they include that each user is limited to 5 tags, and you cannot edit or delete someone else's tags, just your own. Other than that, happy tagging!

Thanks for tagging my thread, Beth. I did not see an option to tag my own thread, but now I see how it works with a new post. That comes up just below my window when I open a new thread, but if I scroll down I can see it. I will try to remember to do this...and thanks for the guidelines on tagging in general.

Thank you for tagging threads! Works much better than the tag system, and anyone can do it. Well, anyone can tag their own threads. As a supporter, you can be a "stealth tagger" and tag anyone's threads

I haven't even figured out "Invisible Mode" yet, so that feature must be real easy to learn in comparison.

I put in for this today but I'm dragging my heels on all the rest ...
