I originally learned from Pavel's books and dvds, and then with Lauren Brooks' Volume 1, but I would recommend Skogg in terms of really getting down form. It is a little repetitive though, so if you're looking to have more of a variety - and are willing to spend a fair amount - having Lauren Brooks Vol. 1 and MB45 Beginners as well would give you a nice variety (and tutorials on all), with Skogg constantly reinforcing the good form. Those three would set you up for years, really. AOS Providence is also great, but more difficult to me. Something to work up to for most beginners.
