Thanks for starting the Winter thread Difit.

I finished Demon Copperhead. I think maybe my favorite book of 2023. Still deciding that.

I started Bastard out of Carolina by Dorothy Allison. It’s tough to read but really good too.

I’m going to need something lighthearted after this though.

Happy December! I just realized I have surpassed my reading challenge - my goal was 55 and I'm at 56.

Congratulations! I might not get to my goal of 50; Dark Tower sucked up a lot of reading time.

that's what I don't understand about reading goals...books are such different lengths and levels of difficulty to read. The number of books read really doesn't mean much.

I’m a slow reader always have been. I haven’t added them up yet but I think I read 16 or 17 this year which is good for me.

I just finished listening to the audible version of Britney Spears’ memoir. (She didn’t narrate it which was disappointing). It wasn’t something that was on my radar, but I heard it mentioned on a Podcast and had an Audible credit I had to use. I feel very sorry for her. Her life is a train wreck. I know there are two sides to every story, but her parents came out looking very bad. You would hope that the receivership was for her own good but it seems like her parents had their own agenda. Tragic, because she seems like a genuinely nice person.

I'm reading this next and it will be my last book of the year. I'm really looking forward to it!

Posted this earlier on the fall thread:
I'm reading a book about fonts called JUST MY TYPE. I thought it would be quirky and fun like EATS, SHOOTS AND LEAVES, which it is, but I feared it would be boring, which it isn't - I love it!!!

When you’re ready for another book along that vein, there’s “The Book of Ruth” by Jane Hamilton (if you haven’t read it already). It was an Oprah book club pick many years ago.
